Tampa Soccer & Futsal Academy, TASFACA, hosted the Summer Futsal Fun
tournament
Tampa
Soccer & Futsal Academy wants to thank all of you and specifically the
Tampa Parks and recreation center
of Loretta Ingraham center for their outstanding cooperation to make our
Summer Futsal Fun Tournament such a GREAT success. Our special thanks also
go to "Chonto Herrera Soccer Academy" who made
the trip all the way from the Ft. Lauderdale area to participate in our
tournament. His team was eliminated by the Champions but in a previous
game did win a game against them. Congratulation to the Chonto Boys
who played their first futsal tournament.
Chonto was
introduced to our futsal fans as the professional player and friend of
Carlos Valderama who played many years together with "OUR" El Pibe
Valderama on the Colombian National team. 12 teams participated in this
tournament for under 13. The bravest team "The Futsal Players Club U-10
with Coach Dan Schlandt held up very well among those big U-13 boys but
could not make it to the very end against the bigger and more experienced
U-13.
The same
counts for the two teams of the Tampa parks and recreation department who
both played their first tournament ever in a Futsal competition. The
Loretta Eagles and the Palmetto Beach Boys from De Soto Park both had very
good soccer skills but still a lack of Futsal technique. The Palmetto Boys
under Coach Antonio made it trough the first round, but came short in the
elimination to advance to the 1/4 finals. The training staff of TASFACA
(Tampa Soccer and Futsal Academy) promised to continue with their
training assistance to the Tampa Recreation Centers.
The most
animated and funny game was the game between "Futsaleiros do Tampa " and
"Brandon Alfa", where both the goalkeepers were stealing the show and made
the crowd wondering if John van der Luit should not be just a goalie
instead of one of the top soccer players on the Florida State team.
